"The Green Industry Act completes the growing interest of savers in unlisted assets," says Benoît Grisoni, CEO of BoursoBank, in this interview. BoursoBank's investment activity has tripled overall (in terms of orders placed and accounts opened) over the last 3-4 years since Covid, and in this context, the returns offered by this asset class and the initiatives taken in this area are encouraging the online bank's customers to take an interest. "The new unit-linked offerings in life insurance, and the 'evergreen' funds in particular, have already attracted a number of retail investors," points out Benoît Grisoni.
Yet unlisted assets may not seem to be a perfect match for investors' expectations. The asset class has had the image of being reserved for sophisticated investors, with high entry tickets and the need for a long holding period," observes Benoît Grisoni. But the Green Industry Act will enable a change of scale, thanks to the integration of non-listed asset products natively in managed portfolios. Our customers will therefore be able to benefit from this asset class without necessarily having to select these products themselves".
However, even though this will make it easier to spread the use of non-listed investments, the players in this market - managers and distributors - still need to explain this asset class. "There is a huge need for education and simplification. There needs to be a great deal of transparency, explaining in particular the companies in which investors will be investing and also being very clear about the constraints and the investment period", says Benoît Grisoni.
